Frequently Asked Questions

How do you guys sterilize your jewelry/equipment?

Our sterilization process consists of several steps to ensure complete decontamination of all equipment and jewelry.

First, all tools are hand scrubbed to remove any debris, and then they are run through an Ultrasonic to remove microscopic debris. Once the tools have finished in the Ultrasonic, they are placed in a steam autoclave with an indicator strip for 30 minutes. During this time, the equipment is under immense pressure and heat, killing off all remaining contaminates. Once this cycle is finished, the tools are stored until needed.

All of our jewelry is brand new and has never been worn. Once our client chooses their jewelry, it is placed in a Statim vacuum steam autoclave, along with any clean tools, indicator strips, and new needles that are to be used for the procedure. This is a critical step, as a traditional steam autoclave works for objects that are not hollow; however, it CAN’T penetrate hollow pieces, such as the entire length of the inside of the needle or receiving tube. Our Statim vacuum steam autoclave removes all the air, allowing the steam to penetrate through 100% of all hollow objects, which guarantees total sterilization.

It is also worth mentioning that our needles are some of the highest quality and sharpest available, but most importantly, they are single-use. Each and every needle is used once, and only once, then immediately disposed of.

All of our tattoo artists use 100% single-use, disposable setups that come pre-sterilized.

What is an indicator strip?
An indicator strip is what we use to determine that an autoclave cycle was successful. Integrator strips are placed inside the autoclave with items that are being sterilized and give a readout to let us know if the internal conditions did, in fact, get the load sterilized.
Is your jewelry safe?
The short answer is: Yes, our jewelry is safe.

All of our jewelry meets the industry standard for safe body jewelry set by the Association of Professional Piercers. We carry ASTM F136 Implant grade Titanium, as well as 14 and 18 karat, nickel-free Gold, and pure Niobium. All jewelry is polished to a mirror finish, and threaded jewelry is internally threaded.

Whats the deal with Tooth Gems?
Tooth gems are a painless, non-invasive way to customize your smile! There are many different crystals, opals, and gold decorative elements to choose from, giving you limitless possibilities for the look of your teeth. They are fixed to the teeth with a dental adhesive, much like the way braces are, so there’s no drilling or any other detrimental action done to the teeth. Tooth gems are a long-term-temporary accessory. We generally expect them to last 3 months to 1 year, though with adequate care, they can last several years. If you need your Tooth Gem or any leftover dental adhesive removed at any time for any reason, please see your dentist.
